Meet Julie and Joel
Long-time residents Joel and Julie Stoppel have finally fulfilled a dream of opening a gallery where they can show off hand-picked art from Michigan artists. They've lived in Petoskey for over 20 years, and in that time have come to be an important part of the local art community.
Julie
Julie has a MA in art education, and has taught art at Concord Academy Petoskey, Concord Academy Boyne, and NCMC. Prior to teaching, Julie was a buyer, manager, and GM in the retail sector, where she learned all about running a successful business with an eye for style and creativity.
She stays active in the arts and theater community in Petoskey through Chalk and Chocolate, jurying art shows, and being one of Emmet County's most prolific sidewalk artists.
Joel
Joel has been a master craftsman for most of his adult life. After finishing a MA in sculpture at Michigan State University, where he is on permanent display, he has focused his talents on finish carpentry. Joel has worked on creating beautiful, artistic interior designs for some of the most high-end homes in the area.
Joel has taught 3-D design and other art classes at NCMC for years, and has helped many learning artists how to perfect their work. Joel is also a musician who plays all over the area and has a multitude of musical friends who he is honored to play with.
